Everton Santos: Arrows played well but we kept our concentration

Mumbai City FC booked a pre-quarter final berth in the Hero Super Cup after a late revival saw them going past an inspired Indian Arrows side 2-1 at the end of extra-time at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar on Friday. Achille Emana and Everton Santos found the back of the net for the Islanders after Rahul KP gave Arrows the lead. After the final whistle, supercup.in caught up with goalscorer Everton to find out his views on the match. Here are the excerpts.

Your thoughts on the game?

It was a very difficult game. Indian Arrows came hard at us, but my team kept the concentration and kept pushing. We were winning the second ball and we knew we could get the better of this team if we remained in it for longer. I am happy that we’re in the quarters now.

How did it feel playing against such a young side?

They played really well. They are a young and energetic side. They have a good touch and good ball control too. That put us in trouble. But I am happy that my team kept the concentration and saw the challenge through.

Your take on your goal which proved to be the winner?

I am happy that I could contribute. It was important for the team. Now, we will rest for a while and start preparing for the next tie.
