Henry Kisekka: Playing in the Hero Super Cup is like a dream come true

As Gokulam Kerala FC gear up to face the Bengaluru FC challenge in the pre-quarter final of the Hero Super Cup at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar on Sunday, they will be pinning their hopes on another heroic display from Henry Kisekka. The Ugandan’s brace in their qualifier tie against NorthEast United FC lifted them to the final round of the Hero Super Cup in their debut season. On the eve of the match, Kisekka shared his thoughts on the mood in the camp and more with supercup.in. Here are the excerpts.

How is the feeling in the camp?

I am feeling good and so is the team. We are in great shape and we have had a couple of days in training to prepare for this important game. This is not our first game because we already played in the qualifier. It will be a good experience to play against a very good team like Bengaluru FC.

Do your goals against NorthEast United FC give you confidence for the next match?

Yes, for sure. As a striker, when you get the ball in the back of the net, it always gives you more confidence. It has definitely given me more confidence and I hope to do better in the next game.

Is the weather in Bhubaneswar treating you well?

Yes, the weather is okay because I have been here before. We were here about two weeks back and it is okay.

How good would it be to get some silverware and go the distance in the Hero Super Cup?

For now, we are just hoping to get over the next leg. But for a team like Gokulam and its players, this is like a dream come true.
